2ND NORDIC COUNCIL MEETING

NRNA was established on 11 October 2003 with the motto of ‘FOR NEPALI, BY NEPALI’ among Nepalese living outside of Nepal excluded from SAARC countries. It has now developed as a largest organization of Nepali diaspora with 71 countries around the world. It has created a common forum for all Nepalese to be united and bring recognition of Nepalese globally. The organization protects and promote their interest by utilizing their skills and resources for social, culture and economic development of Nepal.

Nordic countries are also member of Global NRNA family. Nordic countries have moreover similarity in economy, culture and social structure therefore, Nordic council was imagined as a single entity through council. On June 4, 2014 the first Nordic council meeting was held in Copenhagen finding a few strategies and missions to go further being united. On May 7, 2016 NRNA NCCs of Nordic countries held a meeting continuing the same spirit of conclusions of earlier meeting regarding uniformity in action and strong tie build up among these countries. The program was hosted by NRNA Sweden and participants from Finland, Denmark and Norway attended in order to find out productive discussion and conclusion on different agendas. The meeting concluded with following major points.

Conclusions: 1.       Regarding the students as NRNA members it will be followed the constitution of NRNA ICC however they might be given an ordinary membership without voting rights but can participate in NRNA NCC organized programs. 2.       Nordic council will make a joint appeal to their respective members not to get affiliated with any political organizations to hold official designation of NRNA however if it found such involvement, NCC can make an investigation and can lodge a complaint to ICC. 3. All Nordic countries voiced uniformly that Nepalese embassy in Denmark has once to visit all Nordic countries at least once in a year. Respective NCC will appoint a focal person to coordinate with embassy. 4.       Nordic council meeting decided to form a coordination committee with all Nordic ICC members and the first coordinator is nominated as ICC member Mr. Som Nath Sapkota. 5. A feasibility study regarding collective entrepreneurship fund and a suitable project will be made. ICC Deputy youth coordinator Lok Raj Sharma has been nominated as the coordinator and concerned experts will be team members as appointed by respective NCCs. 6. All Nordic countries will follow ‘Run For Nepal’ as a model fund raising program where as it will also promote tourism of Nepal in the region by sharing resources and communication in each respective country effectively and economically itself. 7.       Each Nordic country will create a women and a youth forum in order to empower these entities within NCCs. 8.       All Nordic countries will raise single voice and show a solidarity in upcoming ERM scheduled in July 30 and 31, 2016. 9.       Next Nordic Council meeting will be hosted by NRNA NCC Finland. A lunch was served to all the participants by NCC Sweden and dinner served by Nabin Thapaliya ICC member on occasion of 2nd Nordic Council Meeting.
