FCNCC Marks 4th Anniversary, Celebrates 61 Years of Canada–Nepal Relations in Brampton

Brampton, Ontario | January 18, 2026 — The Federation of Nepalese Canadian Chambers of Commerce (FCNCC) commemorated its 4th Anniversary alongside the 61st anniversary of Canada–Nepal diplomatic relations with a grand gala held at Bukhara Grill in Brampton.

The evening commenced with the national anthems of Nepal and Canada, reflecting the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

The event was attended by a distinguished group of leaders and dignitaries, including Chief Guest H.E. Bharat Raj Paudyal, Ambassador of Nepal to Canada; Hon. Graham McGregor, MPP for Brampton North and Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism; Hon. Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State (Small Business and Tourism); Mayor Patrick Brown; MP Amarjeet Gill (Brampton West); and MP Sonia Sidhu (Brampton South).

Other notable guests included Jai Paul, CEO of the Brampton Board of Trade; Prashant Srivastava, President of the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC); and Jagan Sapkota, President of NRNA Canada.

In his keynote address, Ambassador Paudyal emphasized the importance of people-to-people relations, the vital role of the Nepali diaspora in Canada, and the expanding scope for trade and economic collaboration between the two countries. He highlighted the need to further strengthen bilateral ties through business partnerships, cultural exchange, and mutual investment.

Founder President Bijay Paudel delivered the opening remarks, outlining FCNCC’s steady growth and its contributions to advancing economic cooperation and community engagement between Canada and Nepal. Nima McElhinney, FCNCC Advisor, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the values of collaboration, inclusion, and diaspora leadership.

During the program, Life Members were formally recognized and awarded certificates by Ambassador Paudyal and Founder President Paudel. The event concluded with closing remarks from Treasurer Laxman Mandal, while the evening was smoothly moderated by MC Sitnam Marhatta.

The gala featured vibrant cultural performances, including Nepali instrumental music by the Himalayan Vibes team, a live musical performance by renowned Nepali singer Suraj Acharya, a poem recitation by Purnima Daga, and a traditional dance performance by Simshrika Pariyar.
