First of all, on behalf of SNS, I wish A Very Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2075 to all!
The Nepali New Year 2075, is upon us. I think it is time to say the most precious words to each other, to forgive mistakes, to offer warmth, care and attention. May the New Year bring all of us warmth, love and light to guide our path to a positive destination?
Right now I am standing in front of you all as the president of SNS for the 2nd tenure. I would like to thank community members for your trust as I am leading this organization for 2 more years and I would like to assure you that I will be working to the best of my time and ability to help you all.
Srijanasil Nepali Samaj (SNS) formed in 2015, with the objectives of creating ties for enhancing cooperation and mutual support among Nepalese Canadians, to help preserve and promote Nepali identity and culture through various programs and activities. Although SNS is working in a limited area, we have been able to connect families living in this area where almost all of us know each other and have developed the sense of belongingness as we (entire family members: children, parents and grandparents) enjoy, celebrate and share our feelings on various occasions and festivities. I would like to call it “Nepali Gaun”
Besides, we have been encouraging children to learn Nepali Language to help them embrace Nepali values and culture and provide a platform to expose and foster their talents.. So, SNS has been coordinating Nepali Language Class operated by TDSB. At present, under the SNS”s sole management, music and dance training sessions with about 70 participants of varying ages ranging from 4 years to adults, are in progress. On the basis of feedback received, we can say that this project has provided a very good platform to help explore and develop the talents in children and adults
SNS has also extended community assistance for humanitarian supports on various occasions to the best of its capacity.
Additionally, SNS has been working as a bridge between our community and constituency offices of our representatives to help families resolve the issues related to immigration, citizenship and many more.
We believe, now, it’s time to go beyond our community and set a broader goal to do something for our country. As we know since 1965, the year, the diplomatic ties was established between Canada and Nepal, the relationship is limited to few million dollars business transactions and no high level visit has taken place since then. We are aware that there is no Canadian Embassy in Nepal and Canadian Cooperation Office used to be in Kathmandu but closed since 2013 which has made the connection between 2 countries more complicated affecting many perspective students and others.
Therefore, at present, we are in frequent conversation with our leaders for the formal visit of a team of Canadian parliamentarians to Nepal and Nepal’s High level visit to Canada. Honourable Nathaniel will be working on it through Parliamentary Friendship Group as Nepal is a part of it as well and we, Nepali community, need to interact and communicate with concerned authorities on behalf of Nepal. Although it does not sounds to be very easy, we believe, it will be materialized with the great results in the near future.
Today’s program is the result of great support from different individual and organizations. I, therefore, on behalf of SNS, would like to extend our sincere thanks to dignitaries: Honourable Nathaniel Erskine Smith, for his continuous support in various aspects of our community activities including finance. Honourable Arthur Potts for supporting for being here at the moment.
Besides, our sincere thanks goes to our Prime Minister the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Honourable MP. Bill Blair for their support with wonderful messages of greetings.
I, would like to extend our sincere thanks to Financial Advisor Mr.Rajen Shrestha Realtors Mr. Binod Poudel, Mr Laxman Subedi, Mr Bhanu Siwakoti, Mr Imran Mehdi Gondal, Mr. Majibur Mollah , Mortgage broker Mr. Tulu Mohammad Hossain for stepping forward to become our sponsors of this great event.
We are also thankful to Chorographers Ms. Biju Singh Maharjan and Nipurna Sapkota for their excellent choreography, Mr. Sanu Raja Maharjan, for his tremendous efforts to bring unique madal performance on the stage. We would like to thank Mr. Hari Dahal for his support for video recording the events throughout, all the artists for their amazing performances, community leaders, volunteers, all well-wishers, friends and families, without their support it would not have been possible to organize this Event.
The sincere thanks go to all the respected BODs of SNS who have tirelessly worked to bring this event in this form.
.Lastly, I sincerely wish you all success and well-being. Peace and prosperity to Be happy! Happy New Year 2075!
Shishir Pandey
